Introduction

Copy ID ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our Android application, Copy ID: Duplex ID Printer. Our app is designed with a privacy-first approach, operating entirely offline and storing all data locally on your device.

Information We Collect

Personal Information

We do not collect any personal information. Copy ID is designed to work completely offline. We do not require account creation, email addresses, names, or any other personal identifiers.

Images and Documents

When you use Copy ID to scan or photograph your ID cards, these images are stored exclusively on your device using secure local storage (Hive NoSQL database). Your ID card images are never uploaded to any server or cloud service. The images remain in the app's secure sandbox on your device.

Data Storage and Security

All data generated by Copy ID is stored locally on your device:

ID card images are saved in the app's private sandbox directory
User preferences and settings are stored locally using Hive
Generated PDF files are saved to your device's local storage
No data is transmitted over the internet

Your data is protected by Android's built-in security features, including app sandboxing and optional device encryption.

Android Permissions

Copy ID requests only the minimum permissions necessary to function. Importantly, we do not request READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, or READ_MEDIA_VIDEO permissions.

Camera (Optional)

Used only when you choose to capture ID cards directly within the app. You can deny this permission and instead use the file picker to select existing images.

Photo Picker - No Broad Access Required

We use Android's modern Photo Picker (Intent.ACTION_PICK or Photo Picker API), which allows you to select specific images without granting the app access to your entire media library. The app can only access the images you explicitly choose to share with it.

No Internet Required

Copy ID is designed to work completely offline. The app does not:

Connect to the internet
Send or receive data from external servers
Include analytics or tracking SDKs
Display advertisements
Share data with third parties
Use Google Play Services for data collection

Third-Party Services

Copy ID does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. Your data stays on your device and is not shared with anyone.

Children's Privacy

Copy ID does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since all data is stored locally and no information is transmitted, the app is safe for users of all ages to use. We comply with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) by design.

Data Retention and Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

You can delete individual ID cards at any time within the app
Uninstalling the app will permanently delete all stored data
You can clear app data from Android Settings at any time
We do not retain any copies of your data since nothing is uploaded to our servers

Google Play Data Safety

In accordance with Google Play's Data Safety requirements:

Data collected: None
Data shared: None
Security practices: Data encrypted in transit - Not applicable (no network requests)
Data deletion: Users can delete their data by uninstalling the app or clearing app data
